Brooks joined Annie’s List, an organization that works to get more women elected in Texas, in 2018. Previously, she served as the first chief equity officer for Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked with city leaders to develop policies to address inequality in the city. She also worked as policy director for both Sylvester Turner’s campaign for mayor of Houston and for Wendy Davis’s 2014 campaign for governor.
