Bettencourt, R-Houston, has represented Senate District 7 since 2015. He serves as chair of the Senate Property Tax Committee and sits on the Education, Finance and Higher Education committees. He also serves as chair of the Senate Republican Caucus. Previously, Bettencourt served 10 years as the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector.
