Solis was elected to the board of Dallas ISD in 2013 and has served as the district’s board president and vice president. Previously, he served as special assistant to the Dallas ISD superintendent and as a public school teacher for Teach for America. Solis is also the co-founder and president of the Latino Center for Leadership Development. He unsuccessfully ran for Dallas mayor in 2019.
