Spellings is the CEO of Texas 2036, a public policy nonprofit that conducts research for policymakers to make informed decisions about the state’s future. Previously, she served as U.S. secretary of education under President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2009, and most recently she served as president of the University of North Carolina System. Spellings also served as senior adviser to President Bush during his tenure as governor of Texas.
