Taylor, R-Friendswood, has represented Senate District 11 since 2013. He serves as chair of the Senate Education Committee and sits on the Finance, Higher Education and Water & Rural Affairs committees. He also co-chairs the Joint Interim Committee to Study a Coastal Barrier System and has served on the Legislative Budget Board. Previously, Taylor served five terms in the Texas House.
