Barton is a senior adviser in the San Antonio Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, where she focuses on the Community Reinvestment Act, the digital economy, affordable housing and small business development. She also serves on the steering committee for the Digital Inclusion Alliance San Antonio and the collective impact project Digital Opportunity for the Rio Grande Valley.
