Murray is the first commanding general of the U.S. Army Futures Command, a new four-star Army Command headquartered in Austin and aimed at modernizing the Army. Previously he was the G-8, a deputy chief of staff to the chief of staff of the United States Army. Murray also commanded a brigade combat team during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
