Brands joined the University of Texas at Austin, where he holds the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in history, in 2005. He is the author of bestselling books on American history and politics, including “Traitor to His Class” and “The First American,” which were both finalists for a Pulitzer Prize. Brands is also a regular guest on national radio and television programs and a frequent lecturer on historical and current events.
