Ortiz Jones is a Democratic candidate in the 2020 race for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, currently held by U.S. Rep. Will Hurd. Ortiz Jones also ran for the seat in 2018. Previously, she was an intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force and served in Iraq. She also served as the director for investment at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative under former President Barack Obama.
