Patman was appointed chair of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in 2016 by Mayor Sylvester Turner, becoming the first woman to serve in that position. Previously, she spent three decades as a trial lawyer at Bracewell, an international law firm. Patman is an American Leadership Forum senior fellow and a founding board member of the Center for Women in Law at the University of Texas School of Law.
